Whole Home Systems

Why do I need a whole home filtration system?

Most households can benefit from a Whirlpool whole home water filtration system. It ensures that the water entering your home at the source is filtered to remove dirt, debris, or even chemicals.

What does a whole home filtration system do?

A Whirlpool whole home system removes dirt, debris, and chemicals from your water at the source. This helps reduce wear and tear on appliances, plumbing seals, and the other systems in your home.

Your home’s water will indeed taste better if you use one of our charcoal filters that removes the taste and odor of Chlorine with a Whirlpool whole home filter system.

How do I know which model is the right fit for my household?

The best reference point for choosing one of our whole home water filter systems is your home’s size. The more bathrooms you have, the more capacity you need. Luckily, we have options for every household!

For most homes, the WHKF-DWH or WHKF-DWHV will work perfectly. These filtration systems will ensure you have clean, fresh water for drinking, bathing, cleaning, and laundry.

If you have a larger home, our large capacity WHKF-DWHBB model may be a better fit. All of our whole home filtration systems will ensure your appliances and showers are at optimal performance.

Will a whole home system save me money?

A Whirlpool Whole Home system is a great investment in your home, and will help you save money long-term. Removing sediment from your home’s water ensures that your appliances are protected, less detergent is needed for dishwashing, and even your clothes will have less wear and tear in the laundry.

What type of filtration is available in a whole home system?

There are two types of filtration for a whole home system: sediment or carbon. A sediment filter removes physical particles from your water. This can include dirt, sand, or other types of materials that aren’t usually visible. Depending on the filter you choose, some may remove particles as small as 5 microns.

If you’re more concerned about the taste of your water, a carbon filter is the right choice. It will remove the taste and smell of Chlorine from your water, ensuring a clean and crisp taste.

Can I install a whole home filtration system on my own?

Installing a Whirlpool whole home water filtration system can be done with some knowledge and experience with plumbing. How do I know which filter to choose?

We recommend asking yourself a few questions in order to choose the right filter. First, are you more concerned with removing dirt or sediment from your water, or is taste the biggest factor? If the answer is taste, a carbon filter will work best. Another factor to consider is the micron rating. The lower the micron rating, the smaller the particles that are removed from your water.

What does NSF certified mean?

The National Sanitation Foundation reviews products and determines if they meet their safety and quality standards. If a product is NSF certified, you can feel confident that the product aligns with your health and safety expectations. All of our products are NSF certified. To learn more about NSF certification, we encourage you to visit their website here.

What is a micron?

A micron is a unit of measurement for particles that are very small. For example, our WHKF-WHPL pleated filter can remove particles as small as 20 microns, which would be smaller than the limit of visibility. In comparison, the WHKF-GD05 sediment filter can remove particles as small as 5 microns, which are smaller than bacteria. The smaller the micron rating, the finer the filtration.

How do I know when to change my filter?

The easiest way to know when to change your filter is to check the listed filter life on the label. We recommend adding a calendar reminder so you’ll know when to swing by the store or order a replacement online.

How do I know if my filter is compatible with my system?

We make it easy to make sure you’re choosing the right filter for your system. If you search for your filter system on our website, you’ll see which filters are compatible listed below the system name. Similarly, you’ll be able to look up a filter and see any housings that it is compatible with.

Is it easy to change the filter?

Yes, filter changes can be done on your own easily. The process varies for each water filtration system, so be sure to consult the manual that comes with your product.
